Who’s Coming and Who’s Going? Homeland security initiatives have thrown a spotlight on truck traffic. Specific infrastructure sites such as military bases‚ power plants‚ chemical plants‚ and refineries have all been identified as potential terrorist targets. The entrances to most of these facilities are manned by security teams armed with dogs and a variety of high and low-tech detection devices designed to help personnel determine if the truck is safe to enter the facility or not. None of these methods‚ other than hand searching‚ provides visual information of the truck’s contents. BIR offers movable x-ray inspection facilities that are easy to erect and less costly than similar permanent type facilities. The systems use linear accelerator x-ray sources and BIR x-ray detectors to create digital images of the vehicle contents.  When combined with existing detection technologies‚ BIR movable systems give the added advantage of detailed visual information that is collected non-invasively. Our systems can even penetrate large tanker trucks filled with liquids.   Learn more: Relocatable X-ray Inspection Facilities Permanent X-Ray Inspection Facilities Return to Application Summary
